It can be avoided by using the dental wax to cover the problem areas of the braces.
Do they have a choice in what the braces look like?
There are a lot of options with regards to the appearance of braces your child can wear. There are braces with colorful and fun looking bands that many younger children like. There are also braces that are clear. The clear braces make it less obvious that they have braces to those they come in contact with.
How do they take care of the braces?
Your child will brush how they normally would. Flossing will take a bit more work because they will have to thread the floss through the braces. Also, your child will need to brush their teeth after every meal, including snacks. Therefore, you should get them a small travel kit they can keep with them for times when they go out eating with friends or are at school.
